  • Julie Miles Berk


    Julie Miles Berk holds a B.A. in music with an emphasis on oboe performance from Cal State Hayward, and certification in the Orff method of music education from Mills College. A seasoned performer, Julie is a soprano soloist and plays the guitar, flute, and recorder in addition to her primary instrument, the oboe. She is a spirited and 

  • experienced teacher, having worked with children for 30 years at the Music School. In addition to running the Music School, Julie also teaches music at several pre-schools on the peninsula and conducts the Joyful Noise Youth Choir at The Congregational Church of San Mateo.

  • Marty Hoffman


    Marty Hoffman has a B.A. in Dance and her Level I Orff certification from Mills College. She brings her unique experience in African drumming and movement to students at The Music School and also teaches music at El Granada Elementary School. She has run two Gymboree franchises in the East Bay in past years.

  • Roger Jones


    Roger Jones has been teaching music for 40 years in grades preK to 12th in both parochial and public schools. He served as church music director/musician for 30 years in a number of mid peninsula churches. Roger is a level III Orff Certified teacher, bringing his knowledge and creativity to the classroom. Roger enjoys 

  • working in early childhood music as well as composing original music for children.  Teacher Roger is pleased to join the caring and committed Music School staff.

  • Cari Parker


    Cari Parker received her Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University and her Master’s Certification in Orff Schulwerk. Cari has been teaching music to children since 1965, has conducted children’s and adult choirs, and is a piano teacher, soloist, and accompanist.

Our Covid Health Plan

Smaller classes of parents, caregivers, and children will come together for some musical fun! To keep everyone safe, we will require temperature checks upon arrival, and masks will be mandatory for ages 2 and up. We will encourage hand washing/sanitizing and practice respiratory etiquette (covering of sneezes, coughs, etc.). Adults and children will practice physical distancing.
